Mineralogical Excursion to Mozambique

Geological Kaleidoscope 2004

Shizuoka University Geological Excursion 2004

Geological Kaleidoscope 2003

Mozambique is famous for its gem stones. Aquamarines, emeralds, beryl, garnet and more are found here. Geo-expeditions plans to organise this excursion for the year 2005 or 2006. Please have a look.

This excursion was organised for a delegate to the Geoscience Africa 2004 conference, which was held at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa from 12th to 16th July, 2004.

The tour had some luxury features, such as a 3-night stay in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve and a helicopter trip.

Shizuoka University Geological Excursion 2004

This excursion was organised for a group of 11 geology students and 5 of their teachers from Shizuoka University in Japan.

Because of limited financial resources, a low-budget itinerary was complied, with the participants staying mostly in backpackers’ hostels. Although short of funds, the participants requested to have some game viewing included. In order to save costs, only one day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park was included. As a consequence, costs were cut to the bare minimum. Service, however was kept at a very high level, with 2 geologists as guides.

Geo-Expeditions was the appointed tour operator for the 21st European Crystallographic Meeting, held in Durban, South Africa from 24 – 29 August 2003. The post-conference tour was the Scenic Earth History & Kruger Wildlife Tour, which ran from 30 August to 6 September 2003. 13 delegates participated in the tour. The cost was R 1 200.00 per person sharing per day.
